We pride ourselves at being a leader in converting VHS to DVD movies
Picture time DVD encodes the finalized media into crystal clear video and
high-quality Dolby Digital and or Dolby surround 5.1 utilizing our Macintosh workstations.
DVDs feature video encoded via the MPEG-2 standard. When
encoding a project, Picture time DVD uses a process called
"variable bit rate" encoding, which allows motion heavy, complex scenes to use
higher bit rates, while less complex scenes use lower bit rates. This optimizes the amount
of space on a DVD.
DVD uses a number of audio encoding formats, including PCM
and MPEG. The most popular though is Dolby Digital (AC3). Dolby Digital features a
compression algorithm that delivers CD-quality sound at a lower bit rate. Dolby Digital
can supply up to 6 channels of audio. This format, commonly referred to as "5.1
surround" (Left Front, Center, Right Front, Left Rear, Right Rear, and a subwoofer
channel), can provide viewers an audio experience similar to being at the movie theater.
The encoded assets are then organized in the DVD authoring
program. Then Picture time DVD masters the client's project onto a DVD-R or exports to a DLT for replication.
