Xbox Enters the Gaming Fray
On November 8th, 2001, Microsoft
took on Sony
and Nintendo for share of this $6.5 Billion Video-Game Market. Microsoft Corp.'s new Xbox
is a machine designed to play video games and DVD's on the television set. The Xbox
was priced at $299 and was to be the most technologically advanced of the gaming consoles
released that year. The new design is said by gamers to be faster, prettier and clearer.
It has a Pentium III 733 megahertz processor, 250 megahertz graphics processor, 64
megabytes of memory. This new console will have a hard drive and Ethernet connection
capability that will make it very attractive to high-end gamers. While Sony is teaming up
with AOL to make their PlayStation more of a PC, Microsoft is promoting the Xbox
as a gaming machine. Microsoft probably knows that many personal computer operators use
their machines more for playing games than for other applications.
DVD's have more capacity than ever, and the
format provides for improved realism in 3D gaming experiences. Picture time DVD plans to hire a programmer that can utilize the full
potential of DVD in the very near future. For now Picture time DVD just wants to duplicate and replicate DVD's for
